July 2022 Seattle Vegan Updates

Free Healthy & Vegan Food for All

It’s almost blackberry season! Enjoy the bounty! You can find blackberries throughout Seattle neighborhoods or go for a day trip and find them in more rural areas. Make desserts such as vegan blackberry crisp, cobbler, or pie. Preserve blackberries for winter by making blackberry jam or freezing to use later. Blackberries freeze really well and are perfect for baking or adding to smoothies after summer is gone.

Get Outdoors & Enjoy the Sun

The Seattle Public Library has a free Discover Pass checkout program. You need to have a Seattle Public Library account to reserve the pass (often a waiting period during summer) and once you get it you can use it for two weeks. A great opportunity to explore Washington State Parks for free.

Many sanctuaries and rescues have days you can visit the sanctuary for a fee. It’s a great way to learn more about what the rescues do, how they help animals, meet the owners, and help support them and explore areas outside of Seattle.

Pig’s Peace Sanctuary has sanctuary tours throughout summer and fall in Stanwood. The cost is $55 per person. This is an opportunity to learn more about pigs and all the work that Pig’s Peace Sanctuary has been doing for a long time.

Restaurant Updates

Araya’s Vegan Thai restaurant’s popular vegan lunch buffet is back at the University District location!

Ben & Esther’s Vegan Jewish Deli is opening their first Seattle location in Capitol Hill on 9/1/22.

Quality Burrito is back open in Olympia with their vegan friendly menu.

Redwing Café is back open in Rainier Beach with vegan breakfast and lunch options.
